Choral Ensemble & Music Appreciation gives students the opportunity to grow as singers, listeners, and musicians in a Christ-centered setting. Students will begin by learning to listen carefully to the beauty of God's creation and to develop a deeper love for music. They will also learn how to care for their voices, warm up properly, sing with healthy technique, and participate well in an ensemble setting.
Throughout the year, students will study basic music theory as it applies to vocal ensemble work, practice good musicianship, and explore selected topics in classical music appreciation and music history. Students will be asked to listen to required pieces outside of class for familiarity and may use music journaling to reflect on what they hear and learn. The class will include one or two performance opportunities for the co-op.
The materials fee may help cover printed music, classroom supplies, performance materials, and other resources used throughout the year.
