Expectations of Instructors

Be a professing Christian.

Pass a Criminal Background Check.

Agree and sign our statement of faith.

Be willing to repent when needed.

Make effort to be in classroom 10 min before class begins.

Be able to reliably handle a class of 30 weeks.

Have at 1 substitute-ready lesson plan. Create additional as needed.

Avoid heavy handed, punitive measures.

Emphasize respectful treatment of students.

Hold yourself to a high standard of conduct.

Be prepared to deliver high quality instruction.

Be willing to attend required trainings during the year.

Be open to observational critique and feedback on instruction.

Develop interest and a level of proficiency in the subject.

Seek guidance on classroom management when needed.

Submit a completed syllabus with detailed rubric for measuring proficiency for core classes.

While non-core classes may be offered as pass/fail or enrichment, provide a clear expectation to students and parents.

Be the eyes and ears of the academy to help monitor behavior and location of students during their day.

Find appropriate curriculum, materials & assignments for your students and the course. Some new curriculum, courses, and materials may require review from the academy leadership. When in doubt, have it checked out.

Submit a detailed list of materials to purchase with supply fees. Be able to provide receipts to demonstrate that fee is not in excess of 20% over cost of materials and supplies. We know your time is worth something, however, please keep the costs reasonable for your students.

Collaborate with parents and students to promote success and address.

Instructors will be required to attend three 30 minute training sessions during academy days where instructional observations may be brought to light as a way of helping all teachers improve their craft.

Instructor Absence

Teachers, please find a substitute for your class and be able to provide them with a ready lesson plan. Contact the leadership regarding this change as soon as you know, preferably the prior day or at least by 7:30 am day of. Phone calls and text messages are the best options as everyone does not check their email when they are trying to get out the door in the morning.
